No. People, come on, I know Animal Collective just came out with an incredible album, but seriously, you don’t need to blog about every song. Yes, Merriweather Post Pavilion will probably be on every “Best of 2009″ list there is, but for real, there are plenty of excellent new releases…
Speaking of excellent new releasessss… Dani Deahl just came out with some new hotness called Poppin’ Bottles, which features the vocals of Californian lyricist Whiskey Pete. I’m going to be straight up with you right now, I’m not a fan of Whiskey Pete. Pete if you’re reading this, I’m sorry but I’m over the whole “rapping over dance music” thing… Unless your name is Rye Rye. Kamisshake and The House Moguls do a good job of kind of “covering up” the vocals, while Dani’s version hits you head on. I suggested to Dani that should release an instrumental of her version because it’s straight fiyah.

I have to disagree about the Whiskey Pete vocals on this track. I’m not crazy about him in general, but I think it works perfect for Poppin’ Bottles. Granted, the song would still be bangin’ without the vocals! Impressive stuff, Dani!

For as great as this track is, i mean the drums are flat out incredible, whiskey pete’s voice really takes away focus from the music. Not hating on the song, just giving my opinion

I was lucky enough to get an advanced of this, and its been burning up every dance floor I drop it on. Mixed out of Armand with this track at Crobar, and heads were focused on my serato trying to see what it was.

I agree with KColl. Whiskey Pete’s vocals are perfect for the track and are balanced out with that bitchin’ bassline. Take that “Dyke Fairy” and “Skeets”.
Then again, I rarely play tracks without vocals in them, so it’s just my personal preference.
But then again, I <3 Dani Deahl, so that could also just be my heart speaking.
