(I can’t grow a mustache either, it’s cool)
I seem to have the same conversation every day with my friends: we talk about the latest mind-blowing drop from Crookers, AC Slater, Boy 8-Bit, Black Holes, etc, and then we have a long debate about where we think electronic music is heading. It’s invariably a roundabout conversation as everyone tends to disagree but, not surprisingly, I like to think I’ve got it right. I truly believe that dubstep has the potential to become much more popular and make its way from British dance-floors to our clubs in the States. The combination of hip-hop and electronic influences, a staple among artists like Crookers, has the potential to blow. With that long ass thought in mind, I bring you a track from Mumdance, a dude from Britain who made a splash a little while back when his “Creator” remix ended up on Diplo & Santogold’s mixtape, Top Ranking (I’d post the track but we have a hazy history with Santi). Be sure to check it out and I really wanna hear what people have to say about this “All The Cash” remix, electronic music in general, and if you think I am at all right in my prediction. Feed my ego!

I’m feelin’ ya. But.
Dubstep over here in the UK is …
basically associated with angry kids knifing your dad when he tries to stop them pushing over an old lady.
Until these kids stop putting knives in dads, dubstep won’t get mainstream acceptance.
Or until it starts sounding good.
;D

What a stupid thing to say. We’re not asking for it to be accepted by Politicians. Did the emergence of Hip-Hop stop because of it’s references to guns, drugs etc.
No, it definitely didn’t.

Yeah…we don’t do knives in the US. Lax gun laws!

“Until these kids stop putting knives in dads, dubstep won’t get mainstream acceptance.”
That’s one of the best things I’ve heard all year.

kansas city has had a bumrush of events put on by the Lotus Camp…claw, joe good, and NUMEROUS others over the last year. it’s really grabbed a hold of clubgoers and doesn’t seem to be letting go anytime soon. not really my thing, but music is music and whatever gets people into other genres is a-ok with me.

The Track takes a bit to actually kick, but I think the production is pretty solid and I like the tune (vocal is pretty catchy). Other then that I agree with how the direction popular club music is going, more hip hop being fused with over the top bass lines and synths, I think it just appeals to a wider range of people and it gets others who like to call everything *shudder* techno, more interested in the style. Seems to be what I have to do in Milwaukee more and more since it is quite a diverse city here. Love to hear others thoughts on the topic.

this track is amazing, but its not dubstep, its like a weird Bmore / Electro / Grime combo…

id agree with its not being dubstep, but i think its almost the milieu between dubstep and the “blog house” that is so popular know. in terms of converting my friends to listen to house and electro more (yes, they’re those guys, the ones who call it all techno) i do show them tracks like these as a means of showing them what the music is and they tend to like it a lot more.

its not really blog house or dubstep though, There is a Bmore drum pattern all the way through, not once does it go into a half time dubstep break
I would say the accurate description would be a UK vs US Grime / Bmore tune

Yea, this track is like Baltimore House hooking-up with some i guess catchy rap hook, having unprotected sex with Garage and getting caught by house chord progressions..
