Once in a while, a band comes around that’s so weird, you hear one song and end up spending a substantial amount of time learning more about them. At least, that’s what you do when you’re grounded on a long weekend (love my life). Steed Lord, a hidden gem among many failed attempts at “retro”, is a grimey combination of 90’s soul-pop and house as well as some dirty-south crunkage (god bless Lil Jon, wherever he is). Despite all their strange influences being from strange time periods which came and went as quick as you can “snap yo fingas and do yo step”, they seem to be more current than a lot of bands out now.
