Just a little heads up as to what’s going on this weekend, the boys (and girl) of Rubbish Films are showing off their Cannes-acclaimed short-film, Eyelids, at The Chicago International Film Festival. The short is, among other things, being featured in Mondays Illinoisemakers program, which is basically a showcase of the hottest up-and-coming Illinois Filmsters, get your tickets for that AND the after party at Pops here. Reference the above flyer for any other details your little heart desires.
In other Rubbish news, the group is just about ready to drop a new reel (check the 2007 goods), drop their new short WET, and release the new Cool Kids video for “Pennies”. What?! Yep, you read it right, Cool Kids and Rubbish have teamed up for a follow-up to the ever so popular “Black Mags” video. Keep an eye out for “Pennies” in the coming months.
Lastly, for the sake of keeping things relevant to sweet beats, I thought it would be fun to ask the peeps of Rubbish what kind of tunes they’ve been vibing as of late, here’s what they’re all about:
Bob:
Que B.I.L.L.A.H. – I Got Colors (Ft. The Cool Kids) (via Fader)
Brad:
Joy Division – Atmosphere
Jake:
The Seeds – Try To Understand
Jason:
The War On Drugs – Taking The Farm
Jen:
The Hood Internet – Cakeicide (Hollywood Holt vs The Prairie Cartel) (via RCRDLBL)
Nick:
The Cool Kids – Dinner Time
