I want to start this little guy off by saying I love America! Don’t ever get it twisted! I don’t care how gheyed up our government is right now or how expensive gas is or whatever, there’s still no place I’d rather be. However, if McCain gets the presidency… it will be a different story. Anyway, this post is to showcase some of the shiz people have been sending me from around the US, as well as a sleeper pick from the United Arab Emirates. Given the fact the word “United” is in the countries name… I’ll allow it!

Alex Rage. Alex MF Rage! Alex is a staple in the Chicago club scene and he needs no introduction. Here is his latest original track, “Dope Boy Fresh”, where he jocks some Jay-Z samples and “gives you more cowbell”, haha. But seriously, he loves Jay-Z, remember the last track he turned out? Probably not, right? Well, shame on you! His last tune “Jigga My Nigga” was insaaaaane and “Dope Boy Fresh” is no exception.

I’ve heard mixed reviews of Dskotek. Some people love him, some people hate him, but regardless of how you feel about the guy, his name is everywhere in LA. His stuff is a little too “rave” for me but since his name is all over the place, I figured I’d show some love.
Help me out though, is Dskotek legit? Is he the sound of LA? Is he the face of LA electro?

Mockin’ Bird – Hissi (Dskotek Remix)

This is probably the smoothest shit I’ve heard in a while. I first heard Dubbel Dutch on Palms Out with his remix of The Martin Brothers’ “Dum” and I loved it! Based on the style and overall vibe, I would have thought that Dubbel hailed from VonStroke’s stomping grounds; aka San Fran Disco. “On The One” has that bounce and I think you know what I mean when I say that…

Whenever I’m in the mood for something other than “electronica/ dance”, I turn to Afternoon Records. One For The Team was one of the first bands I heard from the label and I’ve been a fan ever since. “Apples” and my favorite OFTT track, “Best Supporting Actor”, are off their sophomore album, Build It Up. In fact, OFTT are one tour right now! Yep, they’re on tour this very minute!
In an effort to promote Build It Up, OFTT will be stopping in over 30 cities, and that includes the great city of Chicago. On September 14th, One For The Team will bless the stage of Reggie’s Rock Club, it’s an all ages show and I belive its free, so put that sucker on your calendars!

I first heard this tune (the original) in Diamonds‘ 88.9 Mix and I remember it being one of those tunes that I could listen to anytime of the day. To be honest though, I forgot about it up until Phrenzy dropped his remix on me. Fresh off the trail of his Late of The Pier remix (which he destroyed) here is the latest and greatest from the Dayton native.
The Paradise – In Love With You (Phrenzy Remix)

Darling Farah is a write in vote from the United Arab Emirates. Farah is a 16 year old musician who loves to dig into those grungy basslines. Check out his original masterpiece, “Afghan Birds”, and then dig a little deeper into his B.Day version of Mura’s “Retreat”.

When I heard Dskotek, I think Boyz Noise mixed with some Infected Mushrooms. electro-psychedelic trance? I’m not feeling it…
Try boosting the tempo and filtering out the highs :D

its funny how everyone hates on dskotek when there is 5 other djs/producers on this blog. maybe no one considered that his paper planes remix was “TRASH”. a lot djs have remixed or edited that track but none to a more trashy beat. when i first heard it i was like wtf is this. and as you continue to listen, you start to get the feel of it that he didnt want to have a remix just like everyone else, with the same “electro” beat to it. and when i went to one of his events i asked him why he made it like that, and he simply said the same thing i thought to begin with, i dont want to be like everyone else. and hes a chill guy.

Damn Poor dskotek, obviously it seems like all the people leaving negative feedback, are people who dont like him personally or some other reason. I like his style, like “deeznuts” said its different. Keep doing your thing

no, not poor dskotek.
poor readers of hot biscuits having to waste a few seconds to hear a mediocre edit of paper planes. honestly.
and if you didn’t already know, he doesn’t even make his own tracks.
