After looking at Tessa for the time it took me to prepare this post, I’ve decided that she defines indie. I have no reasons or arguments to support that conclusion, but yo, whatevs. I decided to switch it up from the usual electronica beats and let go of some out of genre tunes. I’ve been really sick of my usual stuff lately so I’ve been switching it up with Panda Riot, The L.E.D.’s, Beautiful Balloon, One For The Team and Now Now Every Children.

Chicago just trumped your city again, say hi to Panda Riot, the young, atmospheric trio my the Chi… Well, if you include the drum machine then its a quad-something. Thats neither here nor there, Panda Riot remind me of a cross between a “less poppy” Cut Copy and a “not as spacey” M83.

The L.E.D.s are a super talented bunch out of New Zealand. I dig the electronic/ indie combo, it makes for a great vibe and sensational listen. “Tide” is really easy to listen to and will probably get stuck in your head after a couple spins. Theres this synth sounding thing that follows the bass for a good portion of the song and boy does it sound nice!

From the UK, ya’ll! I get excited when people from across the world hit me up with stuff and since Beautiful Balloon are from Sheffield, United Kingdom (click here to find out where exactly that is), I got excited. I’m not sure if the band will take this as a compliment or not, but I really like the “unfinished” feel to the tracks. By that I mean they sound imperfect, which exposes character, which I’m a fan of. It reminds me of the days when I was in a band, practicing in each other garages and what not.
Anyway, get your electro-indie on with “Pixel Trippin’” and then get indie-indie with “Rip It Up”. Drum machines for the win.

I posted both of these Afternoon Records jams a while ago, but in my quest for solid indie music on my iPod, these two stand out as staples in my collection. I said before and I’ll say it again, Now, Now Every Children’s “Friends With My Sister” is perfect. I apologize for the quality… Maybe you should just buy it.
I don’t have a detailed feeling about One For The Team, I just find my self saying “I am the best of aaaalll supporting actors” to myself at random points in a given day and I’d like to share that feeling.
