Well, this was my third time seeing Justice live, first at The Metro in Chicago, then at HARD for new years in L.A. and now at the WaMu Theatre in NYC. Based on what I’ve seen, Chicago was still the best experience. However, their live performance has stepped up greatly since then (last year), for example, their light show was insane and their sound was the best I’ve heard. I’m thinking since Myspace is backing their tour they have a lot more money to work with, and it definitely payed off. Along with Justice, Chromeo and a bunch of others were supposed to perform, but only those to did.

I got there with my people at around 8:30 I’d say, and Chromeo was a couple songs into their set, I was able to catch a couple of my favorites “Needy Girl” and “Bonafide Lovin’”. They’re actually really good live, a lot of fun to get down to. After Chromeo, Justice came on and opened appropriately with “Genesis”. The only word I can use to describe that is “Epic”, but after that things seemed to start off a little slow. It felt like they were breaking it down and building it up too much, it sounded like the set was built for a packed Madison Square Garden, but at first it didn’t hit like it was supposed to. I think they changed it up a little bit though because after 3 or 4 songs it was pretty nuts.

The fan favorite “We Are Your Friends” pretty much blew the place up, that along with “Phantom Pt. 2″ and their new single “DVNO”. During “Phantom Pt. 2″ they walked off stage with part of the song looped and slowed down, I thought that was it and was kind of pissed. Then, to my delight, they came back on stage and blew my mind, the mix of the song and the atmosphere was phenomenal. I don’t remember what song they ended with, but when they walked off stage at the end of their set, we got them back out for an encore by chanting “We Are Our Friends”. Once again, Epic.

I’m not sure what happened to Mhedi, Busy P or Fancy, but once Justice was done, so was the show. Anyone have any information on that?

(Update)
Nevermind, I just read on The Music Slut that since the venue changed, the others apparently dropped out.

(Update 2)
Busy P and DJ Mehdi did deejay. I arrived at Wamu probably just a little before you did and caught the last 10 minutes of their set which was very good. I read in a bulletin from the Myspace music tour that Fancy haven’t been at any of the other tour dates b/c they are/were having visa problems.
