On February 19th, The Raveonettes will be releasing their latest album,”Lust Lust Lust“, and given the powers that be, I got a chance to check it “advance style”. First off, the entire album has a 70’s feel to it; the sound of the guitar and harmonizing between Sune and Sharin give it the classic Grateful Dead style of vocals. Along with the 70’s vibe, there seems to be two styles jumping in and out of every song.
The one style is a noisy, distorted sound like you hear in “Aly, Walk With Me” and then there are songs like “Blush” that have a more upbeat tone to them. There also seems to be an underlying theme to every song; love. This album feels like a tryst between the Sune and Sharin made public via VICE Records, and given the album’s title I don’t think I’m too far off in saying that.
The only criticism I would have to the album is everything sounded too similar, if The Raveonettes could deliver more dynamic riffs through “Lust Lust Lust”, I think it could have been a much stronger album. Monotony aside, there were several songs I enjoyed thoroughly; “Aly, Walk With Me”, “Blush”, “Lust” (Favorite) and “The Beat Dies” to name a few.
Also, to go along with their release, The Raveonettes are giving away an autographed Daisy Rock guitar, get in on that sweetness here.

“Lust Lust Lust” is not the Raveonettes debut album, they’ve already put out several : “Whip It On”, “Pretty In Black”, “Chain Gang of Love”…

This is one I can actually say I liked! I like the harmonizing – thats from my era. Lust Lust Lust and Blush may even be ipod worthy for me. Aly, walk with me got a little too “noisy” in the middle.
