“Whim•si•cal: playfully quaint or fanciful, esp. in an appealing and amusing way.”
I don’t think there could have been a more perfect title for Whimsical Lifestyle, Mojib’s debut album. Mojib stays true to the title by delivering track after track of melodic beauty. The seamless flow of strings through out the entire album are complimented by the slightest touches of vocals and other elements; slight yet effective. On top of that, Mojib shows even more personality with some turntable tricks, aka he throws down some cuts, aka scratching.
This really isn’t my usual listening material, but it’s definitely something I can appreciate. This is the second “production” album I’ve picked up in the past couple of months, and needless to say, the last one was a disappointment, so I was weary of this one. Whimsical Lifestyle is well rounded with songs that feel like they have an intimate relationship to a memory or feeling, which alone makes it worth listening to. Enjoy.

Doesn’t ‘Underneath’ use the same riff as La Ritournelle by Sebastien Tellier. What’s the story there?

I’m not sure, if its a sample then that might be why, artists use the same samples sometimes.
