Well I’ve had ample time to give Aoki’s CD a proper listen and I am very pleased with what I’ve been hearing. I’m not going to sit here and write out a full review or anything, but I have a couple of critiques.
The Bad:
In the first couple of songs it seems a bit overwhelming with all the vocals in parts that you’re not used to hearing them in. In the first seven songs, there are seven guest vocals, and in my opinion, thats too many considering the average length of the first seven songs is around 2:30 in length. Not every drop is out of place, just the first couple songs seem to be too jam packed.
The Good:
Beside the plethora of vocals in the beginning, its a smooth sailing mix. The mix starts off with a classic banger, “Refused – New Noise“, it’s the kind of track that you don’t hear everyday in a mix, which is refreshing to say the least. Pillowface & His Airplane Chronicles is the best mix CD I’ve heard in a while, and that’s no bullshit. Much like his live performance, Aoki’s mix is packed with high intensity, party fueling tracks.
Here are a couple of my favorites:
Green Velvet – Shake and Pop (w/ Kid Sister’s Guest Drop)
Datarock – Fa-Fa-Fa (w/ Steve Bays’ Guest Drop)
Thats all you get for free, so go buy that hotness. Oh, also, our Aoki Giveaway is still open. Click here to enter to win some signed goods.

honestly, steve aoki is a horrible dj and so is his cd. only thing he does is use good tunes that everyone loves but his mixing is just horrible. this cd was lame, no real creativity.. its like, o wow, im a great dj cuz i know how to add hip hop acapellas to mixes using serato and make believe like im really doing something when im just auto beat matching and sliding in the next tune…

I firmly disagree, I have my opinion and you have yours.

Hey, just read your comment. I don’t know why the Justice show was moved to the Theater at MSG, but I am guessing they weren’t selling enough tickets to fill the entire Garden. The Theater has a much smaller capacity.

The Refused? Do they know about this? I can’t believe they would agree to something like this. Fucking dumb.
