At first, I was kind of annoyed by Matthew Dear’s vocals on Asa Breed. In fact, I still might be on some of the album, but “Deserter” is such a cool tune. It moves slowly and the beat is hushed, while Dear’s monotone vocals whisper with experience. The synths also feel light and give the song a cool atmosphere.
I’m also feeling this Four Tet remix, maybe even more so than the original. It’s completely instrumental and sounds like a totally different song. The slowly building piano and synths glide beautifully over the jazzy percussion.
These tracks are both chill, but I definitely recommend. We can’t dance all of the time.
