If you look at Beatport you’ll notice that Deadmau5 and Pryda basically run the shit. I’m not sure why, because all of their tracks sound kind of the same; they’re all good, but they sound the same. Heres a Pryda track I bought while I was in Los Angeles. It’s a good progressive tune that starts out kind of chill and then gets medieval on everyones asses.

I don’t know about that mideval section. I couldn’t find it in the track. Sounded pretty much like every other Pryda track just with different chords. I think he ran out of ideas early in his career and has just been riding the wave created by Call on Me.

The whole thing has a mid evil feel to it I thought, I donno. And yeah, his like like 9 songs all sound the same. It seems like him and Deadmau5 are riding the progressive synthy trend right now.
Kinda sounds like something out of Zelda in the beginning.

pryda, and deadmau5 i reckon are doing a kick ass job. i agree all their stuff sounds very similar, although the progressive trend is going along nicely for them, their stuff is nice.
Maybe the best DJ that ever lived, that you never heard of. // December 7, 2008 at 3:19 am |
Muranyi is still one of my favourite ‘Electro’ tracks in my selection.
I don’t how to describe but i call it ‘hero’ music. Very dramatic and moving, the breakdowns and build-ups are just delcious for mixing.
As for a repetitive style from both the mentioned producers, you’ll find that alot of artists have phases in their career where they stuck to a formula sound.
Its just a common thing to do, when you are recognised for a certain track, the next tracks under the same moniker usually stickj to the same sound for recognisablitiy(?).
Its a commercial thing, but if you want to make a prosperoous career out of your production, its the way to go.
But Eric Prydz is smart because he has various monikers.
